Professional Bio
Joye Blanscett joined NAGMA in April 2025. She leverages
her backgrounds in law and labor to support NAGMA
contractors, foster a strong relationship with the
International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT),
and identify opportunities for member education, business
development, and advocacy.
Joye began her career as a labor attorney, spending a decade
on Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and
other construction cases. She pivoted in 2008 to become
Director of Labor Services & HR at the Sheet Metal and Air
Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA),
where she spent 16 years advising contractors and local
chapters on labor-management relations, collective
bargaining, grievance resolution, and human resources.
She rose to Executive Director of Operations, overseeing
accounting, IT, membership, and chapter management.
Joye has provided benefit advice, trustee training, and
operational best practices. When she left SMACNA in 2024,
Joye decided to focus on advising contractors and founded
consulting practice, Just Call Joye. “Contractors used to joke
that when they needed advice, they should ‘just call Joye,’
and so my company name comes from that,” she explained.
She runs her practice alongside her part-time role with
NAGMA; her aim in both is to make contractors’ jobs easier
– from managing their people to dealing with the union.
